CAPITOL PEAK 50 MILE/ 55K ULTRAS AND RELAY RACE INFORMATION
WHEN: Saturday,
April 26, 2008. 50 mile and 55 kilometer, and 2-person Relay start time will be at 6:00am.
Early start will only be for 50 mile solo runners, for those expecting to run more than 13 hours.
Cut-off time will be at 7:00 p.m for all races.
WHERE: Both 50 mile/ 55 Km and Relay race starts and finishes at
Fall Creek
Day Use area, off of C-6000 Road in Capitol State Forest.

RACE RULES/ TRAIL ETIQUETTE
- Numbers must be worn on the
front and visible at all times.
- Announce that you are going to pass
any runner you intend to pass, when it is safe to do so.
- Yield to any runner who announces
they want to pass you by stepping off the trail, when it is safe to do so.
- If you come up on a horse, step off
the side of the trail, going around the horse and talk to the horse riders
so you don't scare the horse.
- Please be considerate to all other
recreational users including equestrians, hikers, and mountain bikers.
- If you drop from the race, please
notify the aid station captain.
- No cutting switch backs.
- No littering. Pack out all trash
(to designated aid stations).
- Dogs permitted only if they are
well trained and have trail running experience!
- Pacers and crew support is welcome.
RELAY INFO
- RELAY is a two-person team only!
There are 2
individual legs, with each team member running approximately about 27 miles
the first leg and 23 miles the second leg
(exchange will be at Wedekind aid station). See

If you
currently don't have a relay team put together you should register before
April 11, 2008 anyways if you'd like to run only part of the distance. You
will be assigned to a team on the day of the race. Email

- The 50 mile course is on the
single-track trails in Capitol State Forest. There are some steep
(walking sections) and rolling runnable sections (see map for profile and
trail footing type).
- Exchanges between each leg are well
marked and manned by volunteers.
- Method of exchange is a simple
touch off by hand.
AWARDS: Prizes to be determined
- Awards to the first three men and women overall
and first three men and women masters (40+) overall.
- Awards to the winner solo runner of each age
group: 29 and under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over.
- Awards to the relay teams.
Team divisions include men, women, and co-ed.
- "First to the Peak" Award: Runner who reaches the top
of Capitol Peak first and then finishes (ultra events and relay).
- One award per winner! Awards presented
following the post-race meal. Complete race results will be
available either on the web or mailed.
AID STATIONS: Aid
stations will be from 4 to 8 miles apart. Aid stations will be stocked with
gel and
electrolyte energy drink,
Talking Rain water, Coke and other
ultra food. See the

CUTOFFS: Course closes
at 7:00pm, giving 14 hours from the 5:00 am early start and 13 hours from the
6:00 am
regular start. If you think you will finish over 13 hours you
should use the early start.

CHECK-IN: REGISTERED RUNNERS MUST CHECK
IN ON RACE DAY AT START (FALLS CREEK DAY USE AREA) BEFORE THE START OF THE RACE
BETWEEN 4:30AM to 5:45 AM!
POST RACE MEAL: Post-race meal will be held at
the Falls Creek Day Use event tent after the race.
$10 for each additional post race meal. Additional Donations towards
Friends of Capitol Forest, will be appreciated.

IMPORTANT CAUTION!
Capitol State Forest has over a hundred miles of trails
that are multi-use. The trails utilized in this years race course are used
by hikers, horses and mountain bikers so please watch out and respect other
