CAPITOL PEAK 50 MILE / 55K AND RELAY

The Course

50 mile Course includes three 14-18 miles loops and two 2000 foot climbs with an overall elevation gain of 6,000 feet. The elevation above sea level varies between 500 feet and at 2,659 feet on top of Capitol Peak. Due to the recent course modification, the second climb is only about 700 feet (at approximately 35 miles into the race). The course has 90% single track hiking and horse trails throughout Capitol State Forest. Terrain is generally rolling in between the major climbs and descents. There are also great views on a clear day of Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, and other Cascade Volcanoes on a clear day!  55 km course follows the same as the 50 mile course but turns south to the Finish after climbing Capitol Peak.

Since the Start/Finish is at the Mima Falls Campground Parking Area the course will be run in the same direction and on similar trails as in 2009.  Mima Falls Campground is the same start/finish as the 2010 start!

Camping is available at Mima Falls Campground on a first come basis, but please park in designated areas. Please only park on gravel areas and not in grass or in vegetated areas!

The cut-off time is 7:00 pm, so take advantage of the early start if you think you will take more then 13 hours.

NOTICE!! The 2010 course has been modified due the change in the start/finish location at Mima Falls Campground (see driving directions). Please stay tuned for the new course map The 55Km will follow the 50 mile until you return from climbing up the Capitol Peak, which will then descend straight back down to Falls Creek at the Finish (as an out-and-back).  The 50 miler will continue on the ridge to Wedekind (A6) and then go for a shorter out-and-back to Aid Station 7.   See the map and course description for more details.

For general view of the course see the 50 mile Course Map
2010 course will START at the Mima Falls Campgournd (same as the Mega Fat Ass). Stay tuned for the course modifications.
