CAPITOL PEAK 50 MILE and 55K ULTRAS
INFORMATION
WASHINGTON ULTRA SERIES RACE!
Date: Sunday, April 25, 2010. 50 mile and 55 kilometer start time will be at 6:00am. Early start will only be for 50 mile solo runners, for those expecting to run more than 12.5 hours. Cut-off time will be at 6:30 p.m for both races. No Relay this year!
WHERE: Start and finish for both the 50 mile and 55 Km race are at Falls Creek Day Use area, off of C-6000 Road in Capitol State Forest.
From Interstate 5 at Olympia, take Exit #104 and follow U.S. Highway 101 west for 2 miles. Take the West Olympia, Black Lake exit and head south on Black Lake Boulevard. Go 4 miles to a T intersection. Take a left on Delphi Road, and travel approximately 2 miles to Wadell Creek Road. Take a right on Wadell Creek Road and travel approximately 3 miles to Sherman Valley Road. Continue straight on Sherman Valley Road for 1.4 miles to a split. Go left on C-Line forest road (a winding partially paved/gravel road). Stay on C-Line forest road for about 3 miles to C-6000. Take a left on C-6000 and travel about 2 1/2 miles to the Falls Creek Day Use Area.
Parking Instructions: Parking is limited at the start/finish area. Car pooling is recommended and the Top Foods grocery or Barnes and Nobles shopping center (off of Black Lake Blvd) in West Olympia, which are two convenient meeting locations. The road up to the start is a windy and gravelly road. Car pooling will reduce congestion in the start/finish area. DO NOT PARK IN THE CAMPGROUND, UNLESS YOU CAMP FRIDAY NIGHT! You must park in the designated areas only. Designated areas include the Falls Creek Day Use Area and along the main C-6000 road entering the start/finish area. Please follow directions from the Parking monitors on where to park!
RACE RULES/ TRAIL ETIQUETTE
COURSE: The 50 mile course is on the single-track trails in Capitol State Forest. There are some steep (walking sections) and rolling runnable sections (see website for map and profile). The course is planned to be the same as last year but please stay tuned on any last minute changes due to trail conditions.
AWARDS: Prizes to be determined
AID STATIONS: Aid stations will be from 4 to 8
miles apart. Aid stations will be stocked with gel and
electrolyte energy drink,
Talking Rain water, Coke and other
ultra food. See the course page for aid station
locations and parking.
CUTOFFS: Course closes at 6:00pm, giving 13 hours from the 5:00 am early
start and 12 hours from the 6:00 am regular start. If you think
you will finish over 12 hours you should use the early start.
CHECK-IN: REGISTERED RUNNERS MUST CHECK IN
ON RACE DAY AT START (FALLS CREEK DAY USE AREA) BEFORE THE START OF THE RACE
BETWEEN 4:30AM to 5:45 AM!
POST RACE MEAL: Post-race meal will be held at the
Falls Creek Day Use event tent after the race.
Additional Donations towards
Friends of Capitol Forest, will be appreciated.
CAMPING:
Please
camp at the designated campgrounds listed below.
The campgrounds is available at the start/finish at Falls Creek
Campground. There is also camping available at Margaret McKinney
campground
(about 6 miles from the start on Wadell Creek Road).

IMPORTANT CAUTION! Capitol State Forest has over a hundred miles of trails that are multi-use. The trails utilized in this years race course are used by hikers, horses and mountain bikers so please watch out and respect other users. acceptance of my entry in this race: I hereby agree to comply with the rules,
conditions, and regulations of the event and instructions of the race director.
I am aware that an ultramarathon/ trail run is difficult and hazardous for even
well conditioned athletes under the most favorable conditions. I hereby attest
and certify that I am physically fit and sufficiently trained for this race and
that my condition has been tested by running long distances. I hereby for
myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, waive, release and discharge the
race, its directors, its volunteers, sponsors, the Washington State Department
of Natural Resources, from any and all claims and/or liability for any damage,
for any and all injuries to me or my property, or for liability for damage
caused by me or anyone else arising from my participation in this event and
related activities. I will assume and pay for my medical and emergency expenses
in the event of an accident, illness or other incapacity, regardless of whether
I have authorized such expenses.
